So much for worrying about Pitt head coach Todd Graham’s numbers for his first full recruiting class. A busy week saw Graham add three more commits to the Panthers 2012 class, bringing the total number up to 12.

While the overall number of commitments for the 2012 class is still a bit low, Pitt is in a much better place overall than it was just a few weeks ago.

Graham received his highest profile commit and possibly the highest commit in the Big East to date, in Cleveland, Tennessee quarterback Chad Voytik. Voytik, a scout.com four-star recruit, stands only 6’0” but could become the dual threat quarterback that would fit nicely into Graham’s high-octane offense.

Voytik threw for 3,650 yards and 33 touchdowns with 11 interceptions combined during his sophomore and junior years of high school. During his junior season, Voytik also rushed for 439 yards and seven touchdowns.

On the same day, Graham received a verbal commitment from cornerback Marchez Coates. Coates, a three-star recruit out of Pomfret, MD, was a top performer at the Mel Kiper Jr. 7-on-7U National Championship and plays the game with great speed, something else that will fit in nicely on future Pitt teams that look to be very fast.

Finally, Graham stayed in Maryland to land a linebacker. Three-star recruit Devon Porchia decided on Pitt on Friday over offers from Rutgers, Wake Forest, Buffalo, and Cincinnati. Porchia portrays as an outside backer in college and is ranked as the 21st top prospect in the state of Maryland by scout.com.

More are likely to follow the latest three commits to Pitt. Like I’ve said in the past, it’s way too early to panic over Graham’s recruiting numbers. The incoming talent is getting better week to week.
