Wide receiver coach Scottie Montgomery is leaving the Steelers to take the offensive coordinator job with Duke University, his alma mater.

Montgomery coached the Steelers’ wide receivers the past three seasons and before that coached the wide receivers at Duke for four seasons before joining the Steelers staff in 2010.

Since the 2012 season came to a close, Tomlin has had to replace voids on his coaching staff by hiring Jack Bicknell Jr. as the offensive line coach and Danny Smith to coach the special teams.

Montgomery returns to the Blue Devils where he was one of Duke’s all-time leading receivers.

He last played in the NFL for the Denver Broncos from 2000-02 after signing with the Carolina Panthers as a free agent in 2000.
