I had the privilege of being one of the media members in attendance for last night’s NIT opener between Robert Morris and Kentucky and got to witness the Colonials’ historic upset of the defending NCAA champions.
What makes college basketball so great is the student sections in home arenas and of all the games I have covered over the years, I would rank the atmosphere in the Charles E. Sewall Center on Tuesday night and the energy coming from the Robert Morris student center right up there with anything I have witnessed.
With that being said when you have monumental upsets, the students storm the floor.
Here’s a look from courtside at the Robert Morris student section celebrating the biggest win in program history. As a side note, take a look at the table on press row where I was working. Makes me glad I bailed off to the side with eight seconds left.
