The Steelers will host the New York Giants (Week 1) and Kansas City Chiefs (Week 3) at Heinz Field during the 2013 preseason, the team announced on Thursday.

In addition, the Steelers will play a nationally televised Monday night matchup at FedEx Field against the Washington Redskins in Week 2, and then will conclude the preseason slate with their annual preseason Week 4 matchup at the Carolina Panthers.

The Steelers haven’t faced the Giants during the preseason since 1992 and haven’t face Kansas City since a preseason game at Arrowhead Stadium in 1997.

The other two opponents are a bit more familiar.

This will be the sixth time since the year 2000 that the Steelers travel to Washington for a preseason game and it will mark the 11th consecutive year that the Steelers conclude the preseason with a game against the Panthers.

The Steelers’ Weeks 1, 3 and 4 games will be televised locally on KDKA-TV. Times and dates for these three games have not been announced. The entire Steelers preseason schedule is as follows:

Mon., Aug. 19 (Week 2) at Washington 8:00 p.m. (ESPN)
