Pittsburgh Steelers Free Agency: James Harrison reportedly could sign with Bengals

After being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, it took James Harrison a while to draw up some interest from other NFL teams.

It seemed all along that Harrison wanted to stay in the AFC North and now it looks as if he may get his wish.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bengals will try to complete a deal this week with Harrison, the soon to be 35-year-old outside linebacker who had previously spent his entire career with the Steelers.

Harrison met with the Bengals last week, and Cincinnati appears to be the team that has the most interest in him. Harrison hasn’t generated a lot of attention in free agency since turning down a pay cut with the Steelers and getting cut as a result.

If the fit is there, you have to think Harrison will jump at the opportunity, with such little interest in his services around the league.

Cincinnati’s main priority has been to add an outside linebacker after Manny Lawson left as a free agent.

They have also taken a look at Karlos Dansby, among others, but Schefter also notes that Harrison looks like he’s going to be easier to sign, which means Harrison in all likelihood is finally going to settle on taking that pay cut after all.

Harrison often has been injured the past couple of seasons and is coming off of a 2012  season in which he had 6.0 sacks, his fewest since becoming a starter in 2007.

However if this deal gets signed between Harrison and the Bengals, you can bet that there are two games during the season that he will bring his A-game.

The Steelers offensive line better be ready.
