The depth of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be challenged again on Sunday when the Steelers play host to their rivals in the Baltimore Ravens – this time at the outside linebacker position.

The status of rookie outside linebacker Jarvis Jones is now in doubt after the team announced that he has a concussion.

Jones missed practice on Wednesday with what the team described as a head injury.

On Thursday, Steelers PR man Burt Lauten announced that Jones has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Whether or not the rookie will get his first taste of the Steelers-Ravens rivalry will determine on how quickly he can pass the league’s mandated concussion tests and get through the league’s concussion protocol.

Being that it is already Thursday, it may be a safe assumption to not expect Jones to be in uniform Sunday afternoon.

But stranger things have happened and we don’t know at the moment how severe the concussion is.

If Jones can’t go against Baltimore, Jason Worilds will get the start at outside linebacker opposite LaMarr Woodley.

In his first five NFL games, Jones has recorded 18 total tackles for the 1-4 Steelers, but like most of the Steelers defense, he is having problems getting to the opposing quarterback as the sack master from Georgia is still looking for his first NFL sack.
