Steelers Secondary vs. Patriots Slot Receivers

This isn’t your typical New England Patriots team that will pick you apart in the slot. Without Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez, Brady has struggled connecting with slot receivers this season, throwing just one touchdown and four interceptions targeting slot receivers on the year.

Whoever ends up in the slot for the Steelers, whether it be William GayCortez Allen or even rookie Shamarko Thomas, the opportunity could be there to make a big play.

At the minimum, the Steelers can’t let Brady fall into a comfort zone targeting receivers in the slot. Brady doesn’t have the weapons he used to. If I’m Dick LeBeau, I’m going to make him find another way to beat me.

Prediction: Historically, Brady has played well against the Steelers, tossing 16 touchdowns with only three interceptions while winning six of eight meetings, including both in the postseason. He’s also won both matchups at Gillette Stadium, but the most recent came back on Dec. 9, 2007. I just have no confidence in the Steelers to put together a complete game on both sides of the ball and that’s what it may take to come away with a win. Patriots 26, Steelers 17
