The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday afternoon that they have signed offensive lineman Guy Whimper to another one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Whimper, 30, saw action in 10 games last year, starting two. At 6-foot-5 and 278 pounds, he has experience playing at tackle and guard, making him more valuable than your average backup.

After being drafted in the fourth round by the Giants in 2006, Whimper played 30 games over three seasons in New York. The Hawai’i native moved on to Jacksonville from there, where he played in 37 contests in a three-year stint.

Whimper’s most active season was 2011, when he started 15 games for the Jaguars. He signed with the Steelers as a free agent last offseason.
