Boy did the Pittsburgh Pirates need that.

After dropping 15 of their last 18 games, the Bucs needed any kind of win they could get and Friday night at PNC Park they got one in dramatic fashion.

Trailing 5-3 with one out in the ninth inning, it looked as if the Pirates were doomed to suffer yet another tough loss.

But Pedro Alvarez wouldn’t allow it to happen.

Alvarez crushed a game-tying two-run homer off Toronto Blue Jays’ closer Sergio Santos, his seventh round-tripper of the season, to tie the game at 5.

On a normal night, El Toro’s dramatics would have been enough to send the crowd home happy, but on this night he was just setting the table for Starling Marte.

Two batters later, Marte, who was slumping in a big way recently, launched his first career walk-off homer to send the Pirates home 6-5 winners.

Enjoy the video and hopefully the dramatic win gets the Pirates started on a hot streak once again.
