In Pitt’s win against the Hokies it was a three man show on offense in quarterback Chad Voytik, tailback James Conner and wide receiver Tyler Boyd. The Panthers had 371 yards of total offense, however all but nine of those yards came from the aforementioned three players. Voytik had his second 100 yard running game of the season with a team best 19 carries for 140 yards. Voytik’s 140 rushing yards were higher than his 92 passing yards. Conner is 41 rushing yards away from 1,000 on the season.

Defensively, both David Durham and Rori Blair share the team lead with three sacks. Anthony Gonzalez has 43 total tackles which is nine better than fellow senior Todd Thomas.

The Yellow Jackets run an option offense which is led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Justin Thomas. Thomas has thrown for 959 yards and 10 touchdowns but also leads the team with 690 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets also use Zach Laskey who has 595 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the season. He is 102 yards away from tying his career best total. Georgia Tech’s leading receiver is DeAndre Smelter who 418 yards and five touchdowns already has set a career best.

Defensively, P.J. Davis has a team leading 57 total tackles which already betters his total of 41 set last season. Redshirt junior Jamal Golden has a team best two interceptions including one last week against North Carolina. Freshman KeShun Freeman has made a good first impression with the Yellow Jackets as he leads the team with 2.5 sacks.

Following this contest, the Panthers will face ACC opponent Duke Nov. 1 at noon. This game will be played at Heinz Field and is the last contest in a three game home stand.
