The Black and Gold elevated their record to 2-0 and have won 13 in a row going back through last season’s championship run. Teresa Conn’s crew is in first place in the Independent Womens Fooball League’s Mid-Atlantic Division.

Pittsburgh is one of four teams in the IWFL that are off to 2-0 starts this season. The others are the Carolina Queens in the South Atlantic Division, the Minnesota Vixen in the Mid West Division, and the Sacramento Sirens in the Pacific West Division.

The evening was special as it was MS Awareness Night at Cupples Stadium. The honoree captains for the contest were free safety Brittany Taylor, running back Sarah Neidermeyer, defensive tackle Kaitlain Neidermeyer and quarterback Lisa Horton.

Taylor was told by doctors that she had MS at the age of 21, while Horton lost a family member to the disease. The Neidermeyer’s mother Susan, who was recently diagnosed with MS, did the opening coin toss at the beginning of the game.
