Pittsburgh Steelers Add Cornerback Brandon Boykin To Secondary

facebooktwitterreddit

The Pittsburgh Steelers disclosed after Saturday’s practice in Latrobe that they acquired cornerback Brandon Boykin, 25, from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The pick could go higher according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan…

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defensive back is beginning his fourth season. Philadelphia selected Boykin in the fourth round of the 2012 draft out of the University of Georgia. He played in 48 regular-season games with six starts. He has put up seven interceptions, four forced fumbles, and 32 pass breakups.

The Steelers may also like what Boykin brings to the table on special teams. The Atlanta, Georgia native returned 54 kickoffs for 1,242 yards in his first two seasons with the Eagles. The final year of his rookie contract calls for him to earn $1.54 million this season.

I think Boykin will be a good fit for the secondary. I give the Steelers move a B-plus for now. Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
