The search for another scorer for No. 11 Pitt took another positive turn during Friday night’s home opening win over Albany.

Someone certainly needs to lighten the load of senior guard Ashton Gibbs and after one game, that guy looks to be backcourt mate Travon Woodall.

Woodall had his best career game as a Panther, scoring 25-points and dishing out 10 assists in Pitt’s 89-56 win.

Tray had the trey going for him as he knocked down 5 of 7 shots from behind the arc and if that could continue would be huge for a Pitt team looking to make a run at another Big East Conference title.

Woodall wasn’t alone in his success as Gibbs had a strong outing as expected, scoring 21-points, dishing out a career high seven assists.

Gibbs and Woodall were joined in the starting lineup by Lamar Patterson, Dante Taylor, and Nasir Robinson, who looked good coming off knee surgery.

Overall, 12 different Pitt players saw playing time; including McDonald’s All-American Khem Birch, who saw 17 minutes of action in his debut.

Birch finished the game with two points and grabbed three boards, with both of his points coming from the charity stripe.
