Chris Seigfried Dismissed by the Power
After a 2-8 start, the Pittsburgh Power decided that a change had to be made, and opted to relieve Head Coach Chris Seigfried of his duties.
Replacing Seigfried will be defensive coordinator Derek Stingley.
Stingley was the head coach last season for the New Orleans Voodoo and among his accomplishments was helping wide receiver P.J. Berry win JLS Ironman of the Year.
This season, Stingley has been in charge of a Power defense that ranks atop the AFL with 232.3 passing yards allowed a game.
Since Stingley is a defensive minded coach, the Power opted to hire someone to help the Power offense. That person is former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mike Tomczak and he will be the team’s offensive coordinator.
In numerous postgame press conferences Seigfried expressed his displeasure in the losses his team had this season and had hoped to do more for ownership.
Stingley will take over the head coaching job effective immediately. The Power will have a bye week before facing the Arizona Rattlers.
