Pittsburgh Penguins Not Interested in Jaromir Jagr
By Drew Shetler
Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jaromir Jagr is planning to test the free agent waters starting July 1. While Jagr has not said that he will not resign with the Philadelphia Flyers all signs are pointing to this.
This brings up a question should the Pittsburgh Penguins be interested in the 40 year old right winger?
Last year at this time the Penguins offered him a contract worth $2 million to come back to the team that drafted him fifth overall in the 1990 draft. The future Hall of Famer decided to take more money and sign with the crosstown rivals.
While Jagr is clearly not the player he once was, he still had a decent year scoring 19 goals and totaling 54 points.
Penguins officials cannot publicly discuss whether or not they would sign Jagr until July 1. However, it seems highly unlikely that Jagr will be wearing a Penguins uniform this season.
