Pittsburgh Penguins Still Have a Chance for Shane Doan

While 35 year old free agent winger Shane Doan has reiterated his desire to resign with the Phoenix Coyotes it appears that that won’t happen. There is still no resolution with the Coyotes ownership.

"“Right now I’m doing everything I can to stay there and that’s kind of my goal,” Doan said in an interview with TSN. “At the same time, I’m having to do some due diligence, now in the fact that the longer it takes the more likely and the harder it seems to be to get a deal done in Phoenix.”"

There are plenty of teams interested in Doan and Doan has limited his decision down to three teams. Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks. I wouldn’t count out the San Jose Sharks. They are in the hunt as it has been reported that Doan has recently had discussions with them.

The Penguins look to be the favorite. The Rangers already have thier guy when they traded for Rick Nash, so they aren’t going to make a hard sell for Doan.

However, the Canucks could be competition for the Penguins. Both teams are basically the same. They already have great talent on the team. Enough talent to know that they will make the playoffs. So, wherever Doan chooses he knows he will be going to a team that ha
