The Pittsburgh Steelers, still in search for running back for the 2013 season, had Ahmad Bradshaw in for a visit on Thursday, but the former New York Giant left without a contract.

However according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers are still very interested in him and plan to be bring Bradshaw back in for another physical in a couple of weeks.

According to reports, Bradshaw did take a physical on Thursday and did meet with team officials, but he was still wearing a walking boot.

While the Steelers are very interested in Bradshaw, it was doubtful that he was going to sign a deal yesterday.

The Steelers are only $2.5 million under the salary cap for next season and there are other teams interested, most notably the Green Bay Packers.

The former seventh round pick out of Marshall rushed for 1,015 rushing yards in 14 games last season.  His best season came in 2010 when he rushed for a career-high 1,235 yards.

He’s a guy who if healthy should improve the Steelers rushing attack, which finished 26th in the NFL last season.

But health is always an issue with Bradshaw and as much as the Steelers need a running back right now, he is a risky proposition. Although looking at what is currently available, Bradshaw is likely the best back remaining.
