Heyward is a guy that needs to be on the field more.
The Steelers aren’t getting much from Ziggy Hood and Heyward has the opportunity to leapfrog him on the depth chart.
But the former first-round pick has to earn it as it simply just won’t be given to him.
The Ohio State product is now entering his third year in the league and so far the Steelers don’t have much to show from him except 2.5 career sacks and 31 career tackles.
Year three is the year where most of the Steelers young defensive players should start to make an impact.
Heyward has to be a guy that makes some impact next season and not be a guy that is simply on the roster for depth.
If he doesn’t find a way to crack the lineup and make some plays in 2013, you could start attaching the word bust to his name.
