Steelers’ Mike Adams hospitalized after getting stabbed in robbery attempt

The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking forward to seeing last year’s second-round pick Mike Adams lining up at left tackle next season.
They may be forced to put those plans on hold for a bit.
Adams was stabbed during an apparent robbery attempt on Saturday morning and is currently hospitalized, according to the Steelers’ official Twitter account.

Details of the robbery from NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora make it look like that three men attempted to steal Adams’ truck from his residence late Friday night. Adams went outside to try and prevent the robbery when one of the three men stabbed him.
He was rushed to the hospital and came out of surgery around 8:00 am Saturday morning. All things considered, Adams is very lucky. The stabbing wasn’t reported to be life-threatening or even career-threatening. He is expected to make a full recovery in about six weeks.

Adams was a second-round pick out of Ohio State in the 2012 draft and started six games as a rookie last season. He was voted the Steelers’ rookie of the year and the offensive line had their best stretch of the season when he was starting at right tackle.
He is likely to be a full-time starter this season at either left or right tackle, although all signs pointed to him getting the first crack at the left tackle job.
No information has been released regarding the identity of the assailants and it is unclear if there are any leads at this time.
