On Tuesday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates lost their second extra-inning game of the season to the Atlanta Braves. Starter Jeff Locke went 5 2/3 innings while allowing three runs off six hits.
Gaby Sanchez and Pedro Alvarez both homered and Andrew McCutchen hit a two-RBI double. But it was not enough as the Buccos fell in the 10th inning when Andrelton Simmons hit a double deep to right field, scoring Dan Uggla with the winning run.
On Wednesday afternoon at 12:10, the Bucs take the field looking to avoid only their second three-game sweep of the season. The projected starting pitchers are the Pirates’ Wandy Rodriguez and the Braves’ Julio Teheran.
Last time out versus the Reds, Rodriguez went seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits in a 6-0 loss. Teheran went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs off seven hits.
Rodriguez pitched versus the Braves in PNC Park on April 19 and went seven innings pitched and allowed only one hit in a 6-0 victory.
Last time versus the Bucs back on April 18th, Teheran allowed four runs and two homers. Russell Martin and Pedro Alvarez went deep off Teheran, who surrendered seven hits in five innings pitched.
