Riverhounds captain Rich Costanzo named USL PRO Player of the Week

Pittsburgh Riverhounds defender Rich Costanzo was named the Player of the Week on the USL PRO Team of the Week. The Hounds captain had the game-winning goal when the Hounds downed VSI Tampa Bay FC on Friday.
He also played the full 90 minutes Saturday when Pittsburgh shut out Orlando City as the team continued its run to the USL PRO playoffs. It is Costanzo’s third time achieving Team of the Week honors, with his performances being noted in Weeks 11 and 19.
Defender Mike Green was also named to the USL PRO Team of the Week for his outstanding two-way performance in Pittsburgh’s victory over Orlando. It is Green’s first time receiving Team of the Week honors this season.
Pittsburgh’s midfielder Robert Vincent and goalkeeper Greg Blum were on the honorable mention list for the USL PRO team of the week for Week 20.
Up Next: On Friday, the Riverhounds visit Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, N.Y., to take on the Rhinos (4-9-10). Pittsburgh shut out Rochester 3-0 in their last meeting on June 1.
The Hounds are back in action at Highmark Stadium in Station Square at 3:30 p.m. Sunday when the have a rematch with VSI Tampa Bay FC. Pittsburgh defeated Tampa Bay 2-1 last Friday.
During Sunday’s match, the Riverhounds will be raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Riverhounds players will feature “Willig” jerseys at the game in honor of the club’s honorary team captain, Sydney Willig, a 10 year-old currently living with cystic fibrosis.
Following the game, a “Shirt Off the Back” raffle will take place, where fans will have the opportunity of taking home the game jerseys worn by the players.
