You had to wonder if the NFL was going to make an example of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for his foolish act Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens and it looks like the league is going to do exactly that.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the penalties will be stiff as the coach and the team will likely receive fines that could touch six figures and the Steelers could also lose a draft pick in the process.

La Canfora wrote:

"Steelers coach Mike Tomlin’s near-interference with Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones on Thursday night is the subject of “an aggressive review,” according to a league source and is likely to result in stiff financial penalties for the coach and the team, and perhaps the forfeiture of a draft pick."

Tomlin’s explanation that he wasn’t trying to impact the play was laughable as it appears that he knew exactly what was going on.

You have to wonder how the Steelers will deal with Tomlin after the penalties are announced.

La Canfora also noted that internally the team is very upset with the fact that Tomlin’s actions could cost them a draft pick. It would likely be a late-round pick, but it is something the Steelers don’t take lightly.

You knew the NFL would come down hard on Tomlin and the Steelers and it appears that Tomlin’s stupid actions are proving to be very costly.
