Pittsburgh Riverhounds MatchDay: Seeking Second Win Of Season Against Harrisburg

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds return to the friendly confines of Highmark Stadium tonight in pursuit of their second striaght victory as they face off against the Harrisburg City Islanders.
Interim head coach Niko Katic’s squad wants to build off their first USL Pro regular-season win as they defeated the Rochester Rhinos 3-2 on the road Saturday at Sahlen’s Stadium.
Tonight is the second of three matches between the Pennsylvania rivals within the first 15 days of June, and it is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. For those in the Steel Army unable to make to the South Side, it will be streamed live on the USL Pro’s YouTube channel.
The City Islanders (2-6-2, 8 points) retreated from the banks of the Monongahela River with 1-1 draw against the Hounds back on Sunday, June 1. Pittsburgh (1-6-4, 7 points) is seeking to move out of the league basement after their first team victory in 18 previous visits to Rochester.
Harrisburg is coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss on the road to the Richmond Kickers this past Saturday. The Islanders are 1-2-2 on the road this season and 1-4-0 at home.
The Isles’ leading scorer, Morgan Langley is set to return for tonight’s match after sitting against Richmond. The forward’s presence on the field has been a key factor in the team’s success as he has put up four goals, two assists, and 19 shots thus far.
Pittsburgh’s defense will also need to keep in check forward Clesio Bauque, who has two goals and 20 shots this season, while it was forward James McLaughlin who had the goal in the 85th minute in the last match to force the draw.
The Riverhounds’ offense turned things around against Rochester before the half with a goal coming from defender Brian Fekete, his second of the season. It was Fekete who scored against the Islanders the last time the two teams met.
Additional Pittsburgh goals were scored by midfielder Rob Vincent, his first of the season, in the 75th minute with the game winner coming in the 84th-minute from forward Jose Angulo. Angulo leads the lineup with three goals and 17 shots this season.
The Isles’ defense will also have to contend with forward Collins John, who has contributed three goals and 13 shots in five games played.
The Hounds and the Islanders will take the pitch again to close out the Keystone Derby series at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Harrisburg at the Skyline Sports Complex.
Riverhounds Reinforcements: Pittsburgh was represented on the USL Pro Team of the Week by midfielder Danny Earls for his two assists that helped the Hounds capture their first win of the season Saturday.
There were accolades also for defender Brian Fekete and forward Jose Angulo as both earned honorable mentions for Week 12.
The Riverhounds return to Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action when they head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer in the fourth-round at Toyota Park on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
