Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp: Mike Mitchell Activated From PUP List

The Pro Football Hall of Fame preseason game is behind us, so let’s head back down the road to Latrobe and check in on the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.
Both CBSSports.com and Steelers.com reported this morning that the Black and Gold activated free safety Mike Mitchell from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and he is scheduled to practice today.
Last season, the Kentucky native contributed 67 tackles, four interceptions, four sacks and two forced fumbles with the Carolina Panthers.
Mike Prisuta of Steelers.com reported that second-round pick Stephon Tuitt was getting some reps with the first-team defense this weekend.
With nost tackleSteve McLendonnot practicing on either Saturday or Sunday, Pittsburgh opted to mover veteran defensive endCam Thomasinto McClendon’s slot and give the Notre Dame product a chance to show what he has learned so far inDick LeBeau‘s system.

Scott Brown of ESPN.com reported thatMike Adamsis not doing enough to help his cause to get back into the starting lineup. Adams lost his left tackle gig after four games last season.Kelvin Beachum, who took over for Adams has been solid during one-on-one pass rushing drills.

The Steelers’ preseason opener will be against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
