It was my pleasure to host my debut show on the River’s Edge radio network, based out of the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Millvale. Gike’s Got Game will air every Thursday live from 8-9:30 p.m., with goal to provide intelligent, alternative sports talk.

I was fortunate enough to welcome James Santelli of Pittsburgh Magazine and WKBN-TV to discuss the Pirates’ anticipated power surge in Detroit, his experience at the Riverhounds-D.C. United match last month, and the idea of the Steelers and Heinz Field hosting a Super Bowl. James joined the show right from the start and stayed in studio for the first 35 minutes.

At the one-hour mark, Brian Metzer of Penguins Radio 24/7 and DKonPittsburghSports.com called in to fully analyze the Penguins’ attention-grabbing acquistion of Phil Kessel from Toronto. We dug into all the details of the six-player deal, plus how Kessel might fit in alongside either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin for the next several seasons.

A big thanks to River’s Edge proprietor Brian Crawford for engineering the show and chiming in with his fiery opinions occasionally throughout the 90 minutes.
