Duquesne University President Dr. Charles Dougherty announced Tuesday, June 30 that head men’s basketball coach Jim Ferry has been granted a contract extension. More from Duquesne Dukes

The Elmont, N.Y. native, who will turn 48 on July 9, has forged a 33-58 in three seasons on the Bluff with the Dukes. The Red And Blue went 12-19 overall last season and 6-12 in Atlantic 10 Conference action. They went 6-6 in their last 12 contests, and also claimed a victory in a conference tournament match-up for the first time since 2009.

The continuation of the agreement comes less than two weeks after Ferry was selected to serve on a nine-person search committee seeking a replacement for athletic director Greg Amodio, who left to be the athletic director at Quinnipiac University.

The Duquesne men will tip-off their 100th season at home Friday, Nov. 13 against the Seton Hill University Griffins as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase. Prior to that, they will have played an exhibition match-up, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the A.J. Palumbo Center against the Urbana University Blue Knights.

The Atlantic 10 portion of Duquesne’s schedule has yet to be released. The following is the 2015-16 non-conference part of the Dukes schedule:

Tuesday, Nov. 10 against Urbana University (exhibition) at 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 13 against Seton Hill University at 7 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 16 against University of New Orleans at 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 20 versus Penn State University (CONSOL Energy Center) at 7 p.m.
