Episode 6 of Gike’s Got Game covered a wide range of topics in 90 minutes, and it’s now available for archived listening. (Lucky you!)

After my opening monologue concerning the push and pull between independent and team/league-operated media outlets, I welcomed Zac Weiss, Pirates beat reporter for Pittsburgh Sporting News, to the show to talk about his approach to the gig and how the rest of the summer might play out.

My second guest was strength and conditioning specialist Jeremy Hoy. I asked the expert about his approach to training athletes for the physical and mental rigors of competition, in addition to his general advice for anyone seeking to improve their level of fitness.

Hoy has developed a reputation in the hockey world particularly, as he works extensively with the Robert Morris University men’s and women’s Division I teams, the Youngstown (Ohio) Phantoms and dozens of other elite-level players based in the Pittsburgh area. He also runs his own business, Finish First Performance.

I closed the show with my perspective on Jerome Bettis‘ pending induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thanks, as always, to The River’s Edge for the weekly platform:
