NFL: Harv Picks the Week 13 Winners
By Harv Aronson
Obviously, I missed making a prediction on NFL‘s week 13 opening game, the wild Green Bay Packers victory over the Detroit Lions.
I would have picked Green Bay but no one could have foreseen the finish to that game. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 61-yard heave by Aaron Rodgers on the final Hail Mary play was the longest successful play of that type to win a game in NFL history.
Much has been made of the face mask penalty that awarded the Packers that final play and how it was not a true foul of that nature, but regardless of the game winner, Detroit had no business blowing a 20-0 lead. The game should have never reached a Hail Mary play. With the first game of the week out of the way, what lies ahead?
New York Jets at New York Giants: The battle for New Jersey. Ooops…New York. Two teams with wild card and division hopes. The Giants are penciled in as the home team but they both play in this stadium? Weird. Giants 31 Jets 17.
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel sits on the bench this Sunday and watches Austin Davis who has been in the league just as long assuming the starting role. That has to sting but “Johnny Football” has no one to blame but himself. For the ‘Dawg Pound, perhaps the best outcome is for their team to lose terribly instead of another last second embarrassment. Bengals 39 Browns 13.
Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills: While the Steelers play Sunday night, their fans will be watching and rooting for Buffalo. Bills 24 Texans 21.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Dirty Birds have been playing like dirt. They will try to find their early season magic in Tampa. Bucs 27 Falcons 21.
San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears: The Bears upset Green Bay last week now they get a very winnable game. Bears 33 49ers 23.
Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings: The game of the week in the NFL hands down. This should be a barn burner. Seahawks 26 Vikings 21.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans: A good rivalry game with not much at stake. Titans 31 Jaguars 24.
Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins: The skeleton-like squad of the Ravens heads south for another loss. Dolphins 34 Ravens 17.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams: The Cards are easily the second best team in the NFC until Carolina loses…if they do. Cardinals 40 Rams 14.
Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers: The Brock should have an easier time with the Chargers than he did with New England. Broncos 27 Chargers 9.
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders: Late afternoon Steelers game watchers will be eyeing this game as well hoping for a Raiders victory. Raiders 34 Chiefs 31.
Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots: The Pats no matter who is injured should rebound against a fledgling Eagles team. Patriots 33 Eagles 9.
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints: The way the Saints have been playing at home you would think they have no chance here. I previously picked Carolina to finally lose a game and given it so difficult to go undefeated, this could be a trap game for them. Saints 31 Panthers 27.
