Game of the Year/Moment of the Year

Fan Vote: Pitt vs. Georgia Tech — Chris Blewitt 56-yard field goal

My Vote: Pitt vs. Georgia Tech — Chris Blewitt 56-yard field goal

It seemed as though anything the Yellow Jackets wanted to do, they could. Big play after big play, the Panthers rebounded offensively after the defense was particularly porous. Georgia Tech had several gains of 50-plus yards on the ground, giving up a total of 376-yards rushing at the end of the day.

21 points, the Paul Johnson led Yellow Jackets placed on the Panthers in the first half. That is where their holiday on the field ended. When Pitt came out in the second half, it was a new team defensively. I’m unsure of the miracle workers the university has on staff, but one came to the rescue to save the face of an ascending unit.

Pitt entered the third quarter tied with Georgia Tech and became exceptionally stingy in the yards surrendered in the second half. It took a composed and efficient team to keep it a game deep into the fourth quarter where they would need to rely on the leg of one of the Panthers’ most consistent players, kicker Chris Blewitt. As others made noise of, probably the best name of any player for any position.

After placing ice in the veins of Nate Peterman and Tyler Boyd to convert a short fourth down, out trotted Blewitt. Once more with the help from Bill Hillgrove:

The Chris Blewitt 56-yard field goal was the Moment of the Year in 2015 as voted by the fans.

It was a remarkable week for the Panthers, who drove their record to 5-1 and an undefeated conference record at 3-0.
