Will the Pittsburgh Steelers target a wide receiver late in the draft?

With the NFL Draft next week, when will the Steelers begin looking for offensive depth?  Many writers including myself see the Black & Gold as the best offensive unit in the league.  So what offensive position will the Steelers target in the draft?

Adding another receiver would add another weapon to the best group on, even getting a guy as late as Round 7.  Martavis Bryant’s future is up in the air, taking a chance a wide out this late is a great move for the Steelers.  One receiver the team has been impressed by is Baylor’s Jay Lee.

As with Bryant, Lee was overshadowed by his teammates in college including possible first round pick Corey Coleman.  In 2015, Baylor lost 2 starting quarterbacks which put a limit on their passing attack.  Lee finished his career with 101 catches 1700 yards and 15 touchdowns, setting career highs in yards and touchdowns this season.

Lee took full advantage of his invite to the Senior Bowl, showing off his tremendous catch range, soft hands and speed.  At his Pro Day, he ran a  4.53, which is impressive for a guy that’s 6’2 and 215.  The Steelers were one of the many teams to meet with him at his Pro Day.

At this point in the draft process, Lee is a borderline pick.  The Steelers could still get with the underrated receiver as an undrafted free agent.  If the team is this high on Lee, the Steelers may select him in Round 7.

Even if Bryant does end up playing with the Steelers again, having too many weapons in the passing game is never a bad thing.  Injuries will happen, guys will need to step up.  Lee is a low risk, high reward draft pick and could be the steal of the draft for the Steelers.
