Jared Hughes

Jared Hughes began the season on the disabled list with a left lat strain.  Since returning from injury, he has seemed to shake off the rust after a so-so first couple of appearances.  Even for a right handed pitcher, a left lat strain is still painful with your follow through and motion.  Hughes has been around the Pirates organization after signing back in 2011.  He may be on the wrong side of the 30, but he still has pretty good stuff.  This season Hughes has allowed only 5 hits out of the 21 batters he has faced.  Last season, he gave up 70 hits to the 284 batters he went up against.  Hopefully Hughes can continue to get big outs for the Pirates as he has done in the past.
