Grade C+

Another short receiver, Wheaton is a fast possession receiver that can take over the slot position. He was a  third round pick out of Oregon St. and has over 1,400 yards in his career. He going into his third year now and is another speedy receiver in the arsenal.

Speed seems to be the trend in the Steelers receiving core.  It would be nice to see Wheaton in the return game a bit more. His stats will continue to increase since he has the talent and great hands. Wheaton has shownthe toughness to play at this level and adjust to the game speed.

Week 11 of the 2015 season, Wheaton torched the Legion of Boom defense catching 9-13 for 201 yards and a touchdown. While in high school this stand out track and field star time a 100- yard dash time of 10.81, which would explain his combine 40 yard dash time of 4.45.  In college his career stats wwere 227 receptions with 2,994 yards only 16 touchdown. He is a solid possession receiver, just not a strong a red zone threat.
