The Pitt basketball program took another tough loss on Thursday night vs the Clemson Tigers. Take a look at the postgame reaction below.

It was another tough night for the Pitt basketball program, as the Panthers were dominated from start-to-finish. We knew the Clemson Tigers would give them problems, but Pitt never responded once they got down on the scoreboard. Needless to say, this team will head into the weekend still looking for their first conference win of the season. Unbelievable.

Clemson Tigers guard, Gabe DeVoe, did anything he wanted to do on the floor against the Panthers Thursday night, as the veteran put up 25 points and 6 rebounds. As if that wasn’t dominant enough, three of the Tigers five starters ended the game in double-figures.

If you haven’t got the feel from the game thus far, let’s just say it was never pretty for Kevin Stallings’ squad.

Take a look at Pitt’s key statistics in their 72-48 loss to the Tigers on Thursday night, courtesy of ESPN:

Key Statistics:

  • Panthers shot 33.3% from the three point line
  • Panthers shot 46.7% from the free throw line
  • Panthers were out-rebounded by the Tigers 35-28
  • Panthers turned the basketball over 15 times

As you can see above, the Panthers were beat in almost every aspect of the game. It’s hard to win when you get out-rebounded and turn the basketball over 15 times, but it’s nearly impossible when you shoot below 50% from the charity-stripe.

The only thing this Pitt basketball team can do now is look towards their game on Sunday vs Louisville. The Panthers will get to play the Cardinals at home, but Pitt was beaten by the same Louisville team earlier in the year, 77-51. If they can’t win, at least, one conference game in 2018, the school needs to decide whether Stallings is the right guy for the job.

I understand that the ACC is a brutal basketball conference, but come on, it’s time the Panthers figure out a way to turn things around fast.
