The Pittsburgh Pirates have had some questionable roster decisions made throughout this season.

From Neverauskas getting multiple extended roster looks, to Nick Kingham continually being one of our starters/bullpen options, the Pittsburgh Pirates have certainly let under-developed (to put it nicely) players play a large role in this season — and they have struggled to deliver.

Injuries and desperation have certainly played a part in this. It would be tough for any team to survive injuries to four of their five starters, one of their best late-inning relievers, and their entire outfield.

But when Jake Elmore and JB Shuck are starting this many games in a season — which ownership stated the club would be contending — fans have a right to feel frustrated.

Although times may seem desperate for the Bucs’ playoff chances, one decent winning streak could vault us right back into the conversation. But another extended losing streak would probably spell the end of contention.

This article will be highlighting the ideal 25-man roster for the Pirates to have, including potential transactions for a contending Pittsburgh Pirates’ team and what the roster should look like if we sell.

I will also assume, maybe foolishly, that Jameson Taillon, Gregory Polanco, and Keone Kela WILL return sometime this season for both scenarios.
