Re-drafting the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2016 draft — only the first and second rounds.

Pirates original pick: Will Craig at 22nd overall

The jury is still out on Craig. Has a plus hit and power tool. He also has soft hands at first, with a good first reaction. However, if people were optimistic about his ability, he’d be in the big leagues by now, playing a corner outfield position.

Redraft pick: Carter Kieboom at 28th overall from the Nationals

The 22nd ranked prospect on MLB.com, he has all the future tools to be a stud shortstop in the big leagues.

Pirates original pick: Nick Lodolo 41st overall.

I would have definitely liked this pick if he had signed. However, he didn’t, and the compensation pick we had resulted in not a great pick.

Redraft pick: Pete Alonso 64th overall from the Mets

If you don’t wanna scream yet, you have probably given up at this point. Home run derby champ, best Mets rookie ever, wake me up when this nightmare ends.

Pirates original pick: Travis MacGregor at 68th overall

Currently recovering from TJ surgery. Won’t pitch this year, and it’ll be a long time before we see him in the bigs. Has a plus fastball though.

Redraft pick: Jesus Lazardo 94th overall to the Nationals.

Ranked as the 19th overall prospect in the big leagues by MLB.com. Lefty with nasty stuff and plus velocity. Will probably be ready to pitch this year. Great.
