There is plenty of blame to go around for the Pittsburgh Steelers following an 0-3 start, but who, or what is most responsible?

After an 0-3 start in which the Pittsburgh Steelers have been dreadful on both sides of the ball, hope is starting to run out on the 2019-20 season. This team entered the year hoping that newfound team chemistry and development from young players would lead to contention, but instead, it’s been a nightmare. Mike Tomlin’s group has been one of the worst teams in all of football, and that’s reflected in the team’s current winless record. It’s clear that expectations were too high coming into the year, but this level of ineptitude is shocking to see.

There are plenty of reasons the Steelers have disappointed this season. Losing Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell may have gotten rid of some drama, but the on-field effects have been devastating. Losing Ben Roethlisberger to an elbow injury certainly didn’t help either, but it’s still shocking to see the Steelers offense look so lost. Currently ranked 30th in the league in total offensive yardage, the team is unable to move the ball with any consistency, putting a ton of pressure on the defense to step up.

Unfortunately, the defense hasn’t been able to carry this team either, failing to stop opponents despite having ten former first-rounders on that side of the ball. In terms of yardage, the defense is ranked 29th in the NFL, including ranking 30th in pass yards given up. The offense can’t move the ball, and unfortunately, a leaky defensive unit isn’t helping the cause.

Unless things turn around quickly, the Steelers look like they could be in trouble. Both sides of the ball have played below expectations, and the result has been one of the league’s worst teams. There is plenty of blame to go around, so let’s take a look at what areas deserve it most.
