Three Rivers, One Show addresses Penguins' injuries and Pirates' struggles

It’s Tuesday, so that means City of Champions co-editors Matt Shetler and Matt Gajtka are talking Pittsburgh sports on Three Rivers, One Show, part of the Fansided Radio Network.

The guys lead off the show with the growing injury concerns of the Penguins, who add James Neal to a disabled list that includes Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Paul Martin.

Who needs to contribute more to make up for the absence of four major pieces? Why is Marc-Andre Fleury often overlooked when hockey fans think about the Pens’ core players?

The second half of the show is all Pirates, who are setting a new standard for poor offensive production at the start of a season. How much could this lack of hitting cost the team down the road? Can the excellent pitching keep the Bucs afloat until the bats wake up?

Finally, Matt and Matt deliver their Final Thoughts, centering around the resurgent NHL and criticisms of the Pirates’ Pedro Alvarez:
