Pittsburgh Riverhounds Add Midfielder Anthony Virgara To Roster
By Larry Snyder
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, not wanting to surrender their playoff hopes, announced the signing of Anthony Virgara to a professional contract for the remainder of the season.
Virgara, who played his collegiate soccer at Marshall University, played with the Hounds’ inaugural U23 squad this summer. He made 11 appearances, played 840 minutes while scoring one goal on two shots.
The 23-year-old midfielder and outside back joins a Pittsburgh team that has been diminished by injuries over the last several weeks as it continues to push for a USL Pro playoff position. In particular, starting back Andrew Marshall went down with an ACL tear recently.
