The Pittsburgh Penguins could not find the back of the net in exhibition action on Tuesday night as the Blue Jackets shut them out 2-0 in Columbus.

Sergei Bobrovsky, in his first start of the preseason between the pipes for the Blue Jackets, put up 30 saves in the first two periods at Nationwide Arena. Oscar Dansk came off the bench, and took over in the third, contributing 12 saves.

Columbus got on the scoreboard when center Michael Chaput chipped in a rebound from the right side of the crease at 14:17 of the second period. The final goal came when right wing Cam Atkinson scored an empty-net goal with 1:13 left in the contest. Both players helped the other with an assist on their respective goals.

The Blue Jackets had a slight edge on the scoresheet in faceoff wins, 30-26 and in blocked shots 12-7. Neither squad scored on the power play.
