Chatham University’s Jason Evans preaches on this week’s Gospel of Hockey

The Gospel of Hockey explores a new frontier this week as Matt Gajtka and Larry Snyder welcome Chatham University women’s hockey coach Jason Evans to the program.

Located in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Chatham ices a NCAA Division III team that plays in the ECAC’s West Division. After great success with Robert Morris University’s men’s club program, Evans is now in his third season in charge of the Cougars.

How does Evans go about recruiting suitable student-athletes for his program? What are the principles and preferences he’s developed over his several years as a college coach? What are the difference between coaching men and women? How can Chatham make itself stand out in the crowded Pittsburgh sports scene, and what are its plans for growth?

Matt and Larry address these questions and more with Evans, in addition to providing an NHL lockout update and their weekly Local Hockey Report, as RMU celebrates a pair of conference honorees and the Johnstown Tomahawks continue to surge in their first season.
