Pittsburgh Riverhounds Add Defender Andrew Ribeiro To Roster

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds announced the signing of former Harrisburg City Islanders defender Andrew Ribeiro through the remainder of this season, pending United States Soccer Federation approval.

The Green Bay, Wisconsin native, a second-year pro out of Creighton University, was chosen in the fourth round of the 2013 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft by the New York Red Bulls. After being released by New York in the pre-season, he signed with the City Islanders, and participated in 24 USL Pro matches last season and recorded one assist.
The 6-foot Ribeiro, who will turn 24 in October, has been a free agent since being released in April by MLS club Chivas USA. Pittsburgh brought him in on a trial basis for the past two weeks prior to signing him on Tuesday.
The Hounds (5-11-5, 20 points) return to Highmark Stadium on Saturday, Aug 2 for a 7 p.m. match against the third-place LA Galaxy II (11-5-4, 37 points).
