The Burgh Brew Interview series returns to City of Champions Radio with a statistical bent, as I welcomed the co-creators of one of the more popular and useful hockey analytics websites, WAR-on-ice.com.

A.C. Thomas (@acthomasca) and Sam Ventura (@stat_sam), both of Carnegie Mellon University’s top-ranked statistics department, joined me to discuss the advent of the site and the upcoming Pittsburgh Hockey Analytics Workshop, which will be hosted by CMU this Saturday.

More from Pittsburgh Penguins

How far have hockey stats come in the past few years and how far do they have to go to catch up with other sports? What’s the next frontier in hockey analytics? What can hockey fans of all types learn from the newer metrics?

A.C. and Sam answer these questions and more, then preview the workshop, which will feature several astute presenters from various areas of the hockey analytics community.

Hockey fans of all varieties are welcome to attend and learn more about the sport. Find more information on the event, including how to register, here.
