The Pittsburgh Penguins (42-26-12, 96 points) seek to remain one of the Wild Card teams in the Eastern Conference this evening as they host the New York Islanders.

The Pens are in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division and are holding onto the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They are one point behind the Ottawa Senators (42-26-13, 97 points), and one point ahead of the Boston Bruins (41-27-13, 95 points) in the WC standings.

Jack Capuano’s squad (46-28-6, 98 points) is in third place in the Metro and have clinched a playoff spot. The Isles lost Tuesday 5-4 to the Flyers in Philadelphia. They are 3-5-2 in their last ten contests.

It is the final game of the five-game regular season series between these two Metro combatants. New York is 3-1-0 against the Pens and have won three consecutive contests against the Black and Gold. Pittsburgh won the first match-up 3-1 Saturday, Oct. 18 here in the Steel City.
