PITT IS IT! Pitt Lands A Huge Commitment From 4-Star Safety Paris Ford

facebooktwitterreddit

Just a little bit ago, via Twitter, some huge news broke out, as Paris Ford has committed to the University of Pitt Panthers.

The Seton LaSalle Class of 2017 safety chose his hometown team over Penn State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

According to Pittsburgh Scout, Ford is a 4-star safety, the 10th ranked safety in the country, and the No. 1 safety in Pennsylvania.  For Rivals, he is the No. 33 player in the country.  On ESPN, Ford is the top junior in PA.  This is a big time commitment for the Panthers.

Pat Narduzzi is clearly making an impact on the level of defensive athletes who are committing to Pitt, and the #SteelCity17 group has the potential to be one of Pitt’s best classes ever.  Ford joins 3-star Johnstown cornerback Excree Loe who committed to Pitt in August.

The Pitt defense ranks top 10 nationally in several categories, and the players look like they are having fun.  Narduzzi and staff are having a clear effect on the state of Pitt football, and it has only been a few months.

The 6-foot, 180-pound safety made it official on Twitter, “Blessed To Say I’ve Committed To The University Of Pitt!!!!! #MyCityMyTeam #412Crew #BeyondBlessed.”

Ford mentioned, “I wanted to show people that this ‘#412Crew’ movement can be serious if a big piece committed, so I decided to be that piece.  I’m trying to bring everyone here with me.  I’m working on everyone.  Every top guy. We want to bring a national championship home.”

This could very well start a domino effect within the WPIAL’s top athletes, as Narduzzi and staff have become very likable with top talent within the area.  Pitt just landed a serious playmaker who could have chosen the defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Pitt movement is real.  I expect several more big-time playmakers to join Pitt within the next few months.  Jordan Whitehead, who is already leading the team in tackles will be a junior when Ford is a freshman.  The Pitt secondary will be in good hands for a while.

For the Class of 2016, 4-star cornerback Damar Hamlin (Central Catholic), 4-star wide receiver Aaron Mathews (Clairton), 3-star running back Kaezon Pugh (Aliquippa), and 3-star athlete Khaleke Hudson (McKeesport) are heavily considering Pitt.

For the Class of 2017, 4-star cornerback Lamont Wade (Clairton), 4-star linebacker David Adams (Central Catholic), 4-star offensive tackle CJ Thorpe (Central Catholic), and 4-star defensive end Donovan Jeter (Beaver Falls) could make Pitt one of the top-ranked programs in recruiting.

And these are only some of the names of prospects, while only thinking about the WPIAL athletes.  It pays off having a coaching staff with recruiting prowess.
