The Pittsburgh Panthers football team will be well represented at the 2018 NFL Combine, as seven players from the program received an invitation.

While the Pittsburgh Panthers football program wasn’t eligible for a bowl game in 2017, they do have a few things to build on moving into next season. The Panthers biggest win of the year came in late-November, as Pittsburgh was able to upset the second-ranked Miami Hurricanes in Heinz Field. Needless to say, that win alone should have fans ready for 2018.

However, before Pitt will start preparing for next season, they are sending a handful of players onto professional football. With only a few months left until the 2018 NFL Draft, these former Panthers are about to go through a gauntlet of physical, mental and emotional tests; in order to see if they have what it takes to excel at the next level.

Nevertheless, here are the seven Panthers football players who received the highly-coveted invite to the 2018 NFL Combine later this month- courtesy of the league’s official website:

  1. Quadree Henderson, Wide Receiver
  2. Jaryd Jones-Smith, Offensive Tackle
  3. Avonte Maddox, Cornerback
  4. Brian O’Neil, Offensive Tackle
  5. Jester Weah, Wide Receiver
  6. Jordan Whitehead, Safety
  7. Ryan Winslow, Punter

Believe it or not, Pittsburgh actually came away with a great amount of players getting an invite to the combine this year. According to Chase Goodbread, the only teams who have eight or more players attended the event are Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, FSU, Miami and Penn State. If we’re looking for positives about the Panthers football program moving forward, this list is definitely one of them.
