Pittsburgh Steelers: 3 Must-have players in the 2018 NFL Draft
By Derek Snyder
2. Ronnie Harrison, Strong Safety, Alabama
At some point in the near future, the Steelers will have to decide whether or not Sean Davis is their best option at strong safety. In his defense, he’s only entering into his third season in the NFL, but there’s no time for a maturation process in this league unless you’re willing to ride the bench.
Instead of waiting on Davis to prove his worth at the NFL level, I believe the Steelers need to take a sure-fire prospect from Alabama: Ronnie Harrison.
Take a look at Campbell’s blurb on Harrison, according to his player rankings on Walter Football:
"“In 2017, Harrison had 74 tackles with 2.5 sacks, three interceptions and four passes batted. He played really well as an enforcer in the middle of the field. Harrison is a tough run defender who has the athletic skills to cover, but he has issues covering receivers in man coverage. Playing zone in the middle of the field is a better fit for Harrison. Because of some coverage limitations, Harrison is a strong safety type for the NFL.”"
Harrison will enter the league with valuable experience under college football great, Nick Saban. Not only has he been coached at an elite level for the last few seasons, but Alabama’s style of defense is exactly the the kind of hard-hitting play Pittsburgh needs to get back to.
Needless to say, I believe Harrison would be a perfect fit in the black and gold.
