Pittsburgh Penguins Vs. Detroit Red Wings Preseason Game

The Pittsburgh Penguins go for their third preseason victory in a row tonight as they meet the Red Wings at center ice in Detroit.

Mike Johnston’s squad put on an offensive display Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Pens won 7-3 as right wing Phil Kessel found the back of the net twice in his Penguins debut.
Marc-Andre Fleury handled the first 40 minutes of the contest in goal for Pittsburgh. The Sorel, Quebec native blocked 22 of 25 shots. Matt Murray was in the crease for the final 20 minutes. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native closed the door on all six of the shots he faced.
The Red Wings wrapped up last season in third place in the Atlantic Division with a 43-25-14 mark and 100 points. They were sixth overall in the Eastern Conference.
Jeff Blashill’s crew is 1-0-1 in the preseason and are coming off a 4-1 win at home Wednesday over the Chicago Black Hawks. Right wing Tomas Tartar’s had a hat trick was the difference-maker on the score sheet.
The last time Pens and Wings laced up the skates together was Sunday, March 15 in the Burgh. Detroit captured a a 5-1 victory. The two went 1-1-1 in the regular season last season.
